YES youth transfer to Tirelo Setshaba

24 Mar 2014

The Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Shaw Kgathi says all young people on attachment to various organisations under the Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES) will be transferred to the Botswana National Service Programme (Tirelo Setshaba) with effect from April 1.

Mr Kgathi told Parliament that those already reaching the age of 30 would serve the remaining period of their contract after which they would exit from the programme.

The ministry, he said, would also encourage them to access other youth empowerment programmes such as LIMID, CEDA, Young Farmers Fund and the Youth Development Fund to help them improve their lives and achieve self-sustenance.

The Member of Parliament for Kweneng East, Maj. Gen. Moeng Pheto had asked the minister whether the young people who were on attachment on YES would be enrolled in the Tirelo Setshaba programme and how those already reaching the age of 30 would be assisted. Ends
