Santa Green gains automatic promotion

Santa Green Football Club has been automatically promoted to play in the elite FNB Premiership League next season. Santa Green emerged victorious in the First Division North league after winning their recent encounter against the Bobonong-based Peacemakers FC to take the lead in the log standing with 40 points after playing 20 games.
In an interview, Santa Green coach, Leutlwetse Tshireletso expressed gratitude saying ‘it is indeed a precious moment to be crowned the champions and elevated to the elite league’. Although, he said the journey was not easy as he took over the team in the second round of the season, he appreciated players saying they remained focused to achieve positive results.
“It was not an easy journey as there were many challenges along the way from officiating to weather conditions and pressure but I am thankful that we faced these challenges and conquered them. I have been in football for quite some time and I thrived under difficult circumstances and I am proud of my boys’ achievements,” said coach Tshireletso.
He acknowledged that his wealth of experience in football had helped him navigate through the pressure to ensure the team attained results despite the obstacles. Furthermore, he said he emphasised the spirit of togetherness and positivity within the camp to motivate the boys to reach their full potential hence they managed to perform well and bring positive results. Leutlwetse highlighted that he had previously coached and elevated another team to promotion in the South region and now did it again in the North region.
Meanwhile, the First Division North League will come to a close on Saturday with Calendar Stars, currently in the race for the promotional playoffs, will host BR Highlanders at the Francistown City Council Stadium. Calendar Stars is in second place with 36 points, making this game crucial for their playoff ambitions.
Tsabotlhe FC, also aiming for a second-place finish to qualify for the promotional playoffs, will visit Makungukupeswa FC at Prisons Primary Ground while at Semolale VDC Grounds, Peacemakers will face Sankoyo Bush Bucks FC. Motlakase Power FC will lock horns with Real Brothers FC at Palapye Swallows Grounds and Tshikinyega Tigers FC will host Eleven Angels FC at the Tshikinyega Primary Grounds. All games are scheduled to kick off on Saturday at 3pm. ENDS
