Education ministry NGOs sign agreement
11 Dec 2013
Ministry of Education and Skills Development permanent secretary, Ms Grace Muzila says people living with disabilities are differently able.
Giving a keynote address when signing memorandum of agreement between ministry of Education and Skills Development and Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) in Tlokweng on December 10, Ms Muzila said God created people living with disabilities (PWDs) differently with different talents. She said PWDs are passionate about different things therefore they should be passionate about taking care of others so that they could be respectable and dignified citizens.
She said her ministry has a huge mandate in this development and cannot deliver it on its own.
She further said government and NGOs should get into an everlasting partnership with integrity to deliver that mandate, which among others drives for inclusive education, peace and development. Ms Muzila indicated that government is in full support of the agreement and will provide financial assistance to the organisations that provide services to PWDs.
Giving a vote of thanks, Botswana Society for the Deaf member, Ms Sekgabo Ramsay applauded the ministry for helping and offering assistance to different organisations who selflessly give services to the disabled through rehabilitation, counseling, life skills and pre-vocational skills which enable them to be independent.
