11 Dec 2013
The Kanye-based Meepo Pensioners Association, on Monday (December 9) put smiles on fourty-one needy children from different schools in and around Kanye.
Speaking during the donation, Kanye branch coordinator, Mr Abram Kelatile, said the association has donated blankets and toiletry worth P12 000 to Motsatsing, Sesung, Segwagwa and Selokolela primary schools. Mr Kelatile said the association decided to start with school children with the view to motivate them to become the best they could be in life.
He said children were future leaders of the nation, therefore assisting them at an hour of need would inspire them to be better and caring when they become adults and, in some cases, leaders. Mr Kelatile said his organisation would like to form a charity foundation for the benefit of the less privileged members of the community.
He thanked Jwaneng mine for the recent P20 000 contribution to their cause.
Meanwhile, Sebako Primary School staff has also donated toiletry to admitted patients at the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) hospital. Ms Mary Hendricks said on behalf of her colleagues that the donation was intended to show the patients that they also cared. She said she hoped the donation would motivate the patients to recovery.
The teachers had earlier bought a full school uniform for four needy children at their school. Ms Kgomotso Moremi, the hospital’s public relations officer, said it was critical for hospital stakeholders to support their mandate through acts of compassion. She expressed delight that the year, the hospital received many gifts for admitted patients. ENDS
