The Ministry of Health, in its pursuit for excellence, has awarded different players in the health sector for their contribution towards the ministry’s objectives.
Speaking at the awards ceremony Friday, December 6, the Minister of Health, Rev. Dr John Seakgosing said 99 recipients were honoured last year and the number has grown to 186 which is equivalent to one per cent of the ministry’s total workforce.
“This numerical surge is a clear indicator that employees in the ministry have harnessed good performance as a guiding norm in the dispensation of healthcare services,” he said.
Rev. Dr. Seakgosing reiterated that as 2016 draws closer, the public service and stakeholders have an obligation to concisely take stock and underscore the wealth of organisational goals in the quest to realise Vision 2016 and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Meanwhile, Selebi-Phikwe District Health Management Team (DHMT) walked away with P10 000 and a trophy for Best DHMT in the country. They also won the Best Project award for project on reduction of maternal morbidity. The Minister’s Special Award went to Dr Boss of the Mahalapye DHMT and Boteti DHMT got the Most Improved DHMT award.
One recipient for the outstanding performance, Mr Fanuel Ngwenya said that he spearheaded the establishment of a Diabetic clinic at the Mahalapye Hospital including the Diabetic support group, food care and Diabetic care team.
