Y Care donates P200 000
25 Nov 2013
Y Care Charitable Trust has donated P200 000 to 12 charitable and community organisations at an event organised to applaud the support the trust has received from sponsors and beneficiaries this year.
Speaking at the event, coordinator of Y Care Charitable Trust, Mr Stellan Bengtsson said the money was raised through walks they undertook during the year 2013.
“It has become a norm that at the end of every year, we donate seventy-five percent of the money we raised to charities from all over the country,” he said.
He indicated that for charities to receive funds from them, they needed to submit applications which would then looked at by the Y Care Charitable Trust board and if they meet the qualifications, they will receive funds. Mr Bengtsson said during the year 2013, they undertook Pans walks, pans midnight walks and pre walks.
“As for events that are going to happen in 2014, we are going to have fifteen pre walks starting on 26 January 2014,” said Mr Bengtsson.
He further said they will have a wellness and health fair on 17 May 2014, starting with a morning walk from Botswana Craft to Sir Seretse Khama Airport and back.
“Also in 2014, there will be a Tsabong dunes walk in May, Moremi gorge walk in the Tswapong hills in June, pans walk in July and finally a midnight walk in August,” said the coordinator of Y Care Charitable Trust. He further said in October 2014, they will have another thank you event for the sponsors, beneficiaries and other stakeholders and the deadline for submissions by charities who will receive money at this event is September 1 2014.
Amongst the charities that were given money were Bana Ba Metsi, Diabetes Association of Botswana, Mosu Football Association, Otse Home Based Care, Mosu village development committee, Stepping Stone International and Kgosi Sechele museum.
One of the beneficiaries from Mosu Football Association said the money will help them with developing the youth in Mosu by keeping them busy with sports and away from the streets. An official from Bana Ba Metsi applauded the gesture by Y Care Charitable Trust and said the money will be used to refurbish the drainage system at the institution.
Y Care Charitable Trust is a Botswana based non-governmental organization which provides extraordinary experiences in unique environments to fulfill the needs of our communities by organizing sponsored walks in scenic areas of Botswana, such as Makgadikgadi Pans and Tuli Block amongst others. ENDS
