Amakhosi claim Eagles scalp8232

A solitary goal from Bokamoso Phuthego deep in the second half ensured that Amakhosi collected maximum points from Sladden Eagles during a Debswana first division north game played at Gerald Estates on November 23.

However, the result was not a true reflection of the game as both teams put an uninspiring performance which left the two technical teams fuming and frustrated for the entire match.

From the Amakhosi bench, coach Lovemore Mokgweetsi could be seen throwing his hands in the air as his strikers failed to convert easy chances throughout the game.

Though he continuously shouted instructions at individual players to up their game, these fell on deaf ears as the players continued to commit school boy errors instead of utilising chances that came their way.

The two teams created few chances between themselves, especially in the first half and had to battle an east-westerly breeze, which made it difficult to control aerial balls.
The two teams went into half time goalless.

During the second half, the two teams continued with their kick and rush brand of play, though Eagles captain, Letsweletse Mokgethi tried to marshal his troops to play constructively through short passes in the midfield.

Amakhosi’s goal 25 minutes into the second half invigorated the match as both teams upped the tempo and attacked each other purposefully.
Mazhata wasted a glorious opportunity to level the scores in the 70th minute when he ballooned a free kick over the cross bar with the keeper well beaten.

Towards the end, Amakhosi goal minder Kafuko pulled a miraculous save from a Mazhata free kick and the resultant corner kick to deny the Somerset based outfit a share of the spoils. ENDS
