Batswana must be part of national vision

24 Nov 2013

Batswana should be active players in the national vision so that they can be part of all the activities during the count down to the year 2016.

Speaking at the hoisting of the national flag to mark the start of activities leading to the country’s 50th independence anniversary in Francistown on November 21, the mayor, Mr James Kgalajwe, noted that people often criticised the activities leading to 2016, arguing that the vision would not be achieved despite continuous updates on the progress of the activities.

He said the journey to 2016 had had challenges since it started in 2004 but achievements had been made because of determination by government and the nation.

He said every strategy established based on the development of Botswana had been aligned to Vision 2016 and this should be an encouragement to the communities to work towards the realisation of the national vision, which coincided with the 50th anniversary of independence.

“We should understand that the vision is aimed at bringing together Batswana to work together as a unit for the development of their country,” he said. ENDS
