Kealotswe appreciates Presidents visit

21 Nov 2013

North East District Council (NEDC) chairperson, Mr City Kealotswe has applauded President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama for his recent visit to their area.

Speaking during a full council meeting in Masunga on August 20, Mr Kealotswe, who is also councillor for Mapoka ward said the President’s visit to Ditladi, Shashe Bridge and Tati Siding last month had not only filled the residents with happiness but had also given them hope for a brighter future.

The visit, he said, had given residents an opportunity to express their grievances and pleasure on the services rendered to them by government, adding that he was hopeful that all the issues raised had been addressed accordingly.

Cllr Kealotswe was optimistic that thorough follow-ups would be made where there are still pending issues. Still on the significance of President Khama’s visit, the chairperson implored all to “recognize that it is through these consultative meetings that our country is still counted among the 30 most democratic nations in the whole world”.

On a different matter, Mr Kealotswe reminded the house of the Budget Pitso that was held in October; the objective of which was to sensitise local authorities on the national budgeting processes as well as providing a forum for discussing national priorities that would guide resource allocation in the next financial year.

He said though there were indications that the economy was gradually improving, the effects of the recession were yet to wear off. Mr Kealotswe urged all to support the poverty eradition programme. Ends
