06 Nov 2013

A team of Botswana Defence Force (BDF) engineers in Kasane have donated grocery items to a needy woman residing in the Kgaphamadi area on Tuesday, November 5.

Known as 82CER, the 15 member team contributed money to buy Ms Namata Tawana some groceries as a way of giving back to the community.

“We always come to Kasane for some months for work so we decided to make a difference in the life of this lady,” the team leader Lieutenant Motshidisi Motota said. The chief social and community development officer, Ms Member Makonya thanked the team for their contribution to community development.

“This is not the first time the BDF has donated, another team from Pandamatenga did the same,” she said adding that it is difficult for the council to take care of everyone in the society. The 59 year-old Ms Tawana thanked the team as well for restoring her dignity, noting that none of her six children has enough income to support her. She is currently being assessed for the destitute programme. ENDS
