Tswiio tops media awards

Botswana Press Agency‘s Mr Rebaone Tswiio is Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA )-Botswana journalist of the year.

Ribs, as Mr Tswiio is affectionately called by his colleagues, also scooped the print journalist of the year award and best feature writer of the year at the media annual awards ceremony in Gaborone on November 1.

Mr Tswiio’s winning stories were When flies take over that earned him print journalist of the year award and The agony of power cuts under the category of best feature writer of the year. By winning these two, he automatically qualified for the overall journalist of the year award. 

The awards were not Mr Tswiio’s first as he scooped the investigative reporter of the year and journalist of the year in 2011. Meanwhile, Mr Dikarabo Ramadubu of Botswana Guardian went home with two awards of sports writer of the year and the best reporter on education issues. 

Botswana Television’s Onkutlwile Thamage was named the investigative reporter of the year and the best reporter on adolescent sexual reproductive health issues, while Mr Kagiso Onkatswitse of Mmegi won the photographer of the year award.

Best current affairs programme for broadcast category went to Mr Reginald Richardson of Gabz FM. Ends
