Kenya back to business

High Commissioner Jean Kimani of Kenya says things are back to normal in Nairobi after the terrorist attack at the Westgate Mall, in which 67 people died. She reassured travellers and tourists that it was safe to travel to Kenya.
Addressing the media on Monday, October 28, Ms Kimani said terrorism was an international problem and that every country must play its part in combating it. She said she was happy that the international community was working towards eliminating terrorism.
Ms Kimani said the Kenya government was working with key partners in exchange of information and ensuring that such threats as posed by terrorism were countered and dealt with to safe guard the lives of innocent people. The High Commissioner said the country’s security organs were doing all they could to safe guard the country's borders.
She expressed appreciation to other African states for monitoring business trends and confidence before and after the attacks. She said the professional manner in which the situation was handled helped maintain confidence in the systems.
Ms Kimani noted that immediately after the terror attack three global activities; Eco Tourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference, African Hotel Investment Conference, which attracted delegates from over 40 countries, and the World Travel Awards were successfully held in Nairobi which marked business confidence in Kenya.
She said the nation of Kenya embraced the festive season with the hope of a blessed future and a united effort especially that this year marked the 50th Anniversary of Kenya’s independence. For her part Kenya Airways country manager, Ms Juliet Zintambila told journalists that the first of the 10 Boeing 777 arrived last Friday.
The 400-seat aircraft will be operating between Nairobi and Beijing route. Ms Zintambila said the aircraft was spacious with modern technology as it had Wi-Fi on board. She urged travellers to book for their tickets as early as now to enjoy their holiday packages. ENDS
