VP consoles bereaved families

Vice President Mr Slumber Tsogwane has visited three families in Rakops and Toromoja villages to commisserate with them following the death of their family members.

Mr Tsogwane, also area Member of Parliament, offered condolences to the families of former Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) councilor , Mr Reuben Erastus, former BDP stalwarts Ms Eteng Jane and Ms Keadimile Dambe.  

He noted that it was not easy to comfort and support each other in memorial services as it would have been before COVID-19 pandemic. 

He said had it not been due to COVID-19, multitudes would have converged in Toromoja to pay their last respects, because the former councilor was a mentor to many in politics and has also worked as a teacher in different villages.

He said that if all could commit to fighting COVID-19 pandemic by adhering to set health protocols, humanity would be saved.

Mr Tsogwane described the two-terms former councilor as a committed and loyal BDP stalwart who mentored many in politics, emphasising that most politicians himself included assumed high leadership positions due to his mentorship.

He said he worked with Mr Erastus from 2004 to 2014 and his commitment to the party was characterised by loyalty, humility, love and a cooperative spirit. 

Vice-President stated that he was a product of Mr Erastus from Tsienyane Primary School in Rakops. 

He encouraged Erastus family to have faith in the lord, citing that the deceased had been relieved from the pains he endured over a long period of time. 

He urged them to remain strengthened and have hope as well as faith in the Lord.

Family representative, a brother to the deceased, Mr Wilmon Karihindi said they were grateful of Mr Tsogwane’s support, adding that it was comforting to have somebody of his stature standing with them during their loss. 

Mr Erastus was laid to rest yesterday.

Comforting the family of Ms Jane, a BDP stalwart, who passed on last week Wednesday in Rakops, VP Tsogwana described the deceased as an elder in the party who provided sound support in building the BDP. 

Mr Tsogwana noted that he rose through leadership positions due to her an unwavering support. 

Mr Tsogwane also urged family of Ms Dambe who passed on last week Friday to remain comforted and accept God’s will. 

Ms Jane and Ms Dambe were laid to rest on Saturday in Rakops. Ends
