P10 million project complete
26 Aug 2018
The over P10- million Sefhare Agricultural Service Centre maintenance project has been completed albeit some two months behind schedule.
Speaking in an interview with BOPA, Mr Kago Ganelang the project engineer with contractor G-N-S Civils, said the completion date of June this year was not met mainly due to alterations made to the project, high amount of rainfall early last year and late payments from the client.
He said despite the challenges, the contractor worked tirelessly to deliver the project on time at a required standard of quality.
The expected completion date of June 22 had to be extended due to alterations, he said, explaining the two-month delay in the delivery of the project.
He said the project, which commenced in December 2016 under the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) entailed maintenance of existing buildings and building new structures and included construction, civil and mechanical works.
Mr Ganelang said the design of the roof had to be changed to the bull nose style as the initial one resulted in leakages.
The bull nose type specialist did impressive work and completed it on time using the specified materials, he said.
He revealed that the project created employment for close to 100 locals, particularly the youth from surrounding villages.
Other completed ESP projects in Sefhare are the renovation and upgrading the local clinic to a 24hr one extending services to neighbouring villages including Chadibe and Borotsi. ENDS
