Real Magosi re-brands releases album
04 Oct 2016
Real Magosi’s duo of Kabo Moroka (33) and Lancelot Bartlett (32) have resurfaced with a new tune and a new brand, Jesus Inspired Kings.
The duo would be remembered with their album Borre ba Kgwebo that was released in 2007, singles like Oyee, Real Magosi and Monate wa teng, which rocked airwaves and made them a popular house hold name.
After four years of absence in the entertainment arena, they came back as Gospel singers.
The group bounced back early this month with their single Jerusalema that aired in RB2 and Yarona fm.
They said they were working on their gospel album produced by the award winning and gospel veteran Tshepo Lesole.
It featured various artists such as Malaika, Hope, Kayzee just to mention a few. They anticipate to release and launch their re-vamped music album next month.
In an interview, Jesus Inspired Kings said they had encountered a 360 degrees life transformation after giving their lives to God in 2012.
The dynamic duo admitted to knowing that they have created a curiosity buzz as to what they have been up to; where they have been and why they have been silent for the past four years in the music industry and in the public arena.
Nevertheless, they said their re-branding transpired after the realization of the fact that there is more to life than leading an irresponsible, reckless behaviour orientated and unaccountable lifestyle which lacked good character, obedience and humility of which God regards highly of his children.
Lancelot and Khaba in one accord said they realized that nobody meets God and remains the same hence as Real Magosi when they met God they became Jesus Inspired Kings referencing by the biblical Saul who became Paul after an encounter with God.
The group said it has found it imperative to re- strategize their vision which now focuses on using music as an instrument to empower, evangelise, mobilise, sensitise, create awareness and educate through campaigns to develop socio-economic status quo and to work towards eliminating all obstacles that hinder holistic development.
“Our music back in the days was influenced by the lifestyle, we practised what we sang, and that entailed drinking alcohol and doing drugs amongst many. We didn't create fairy tales we put in lyrics” Lancelot said.
“We used to promote violence, drugs and lived a lie, we influenced people the wrong way. Now we are compelled to tell the same people we derailed them that we were wrong. We didn't realize that until we came to the light. When we encountered Christ everything changed, we got a wakeup call, the word of God made too much sense” Khaba as he is popularly known supplemented to what Lancelot said.
Jesus Inspired Kings said they share similar sentiments and said they are committed and cannot stop sharing Christ. The duo also said they opted for Gospel not because it can sell but are compelled to make a positive mark in the lives of many especially the youth.
They said fusing their music with experience they intend to perform their social corporate responsibilities adding that they reckon themselves as a stakeholder and want to team up with other stakeholders, make collaborations and partnerships to advocate for character and behavioural change.
“We want to be ambassadors and agents of change because of our experience, we want to uproot immorality since we know the root cause. We also want to impart, and we know better the stubbornness of the youth as we have been there before however we are aware that we cannot change people but God can.” Lancelot said.
They asserted that after their encounter with God in 2012 they knew their old music was meaningless. They further said they were self-convicted and automatically they could not go back.
Meanwhile Khaba and Lancelot said they have been busy pursuing their university degrees and said after all the four years of transformation they are now positioned to offer what they referred to as valuable and meaningful music. ENDS
