Tsimanyana defies odds

Scores of youth who get funding from Youth Development Fund (YDF) seem to struggle with running business let alone servicing their loans.
Mr Oratile Tsimanyana, one of the YDF beneficiaries funded to the tune of P100 000 to start a laundry in 2015 is an exception.
He is making headway where many have either quit or faltered.
In an interview, Mr Tsimanyana of Chana Laundry Services located at BG Mall in Kanye said he chose to do this type of business because right from a tender age he has had a liking for cleaning and making sure everything is neatly arranged at home.
“After cleaning the house, I would wash all the dirty clothes,” he says of his childhood vocation.
Through the start-up capital the 24 year-old was able to procure two washing machines, two dryers, four ironing boards, a generator, a Jojo tank, carpet, towels and a laptop to process financial statements and balance sheets among others.
Mr Tsimanyana charges P15 per kilogramme for washing, drying and ironing.
Although making strides, Mr Tsimanyana noted that laundry business requires one to exercise a lot of patience because there are days when there is absolutely little or no business at all.
One of the strategies that has always worked for him and lured a lot of customers is advertising.
“Advertising remains the primary vehicle through which one can effectively reach out to customers,” he says.
Currently, Mr Tsimanyana has one employee who works on commission to help him whenever there is a lot of work.
His wish is to see his business blossom and creating employment for a lot of people. ENDS
