Service centre closes gap

Nata is not only known for a number of tourists attractions and being the stop-over for tourists who travel to and from Maun, Kasane and other areas.
The village also serves as a service centre for Gweta, Dzoroga, Sepako, Manxotae, Maposa, Lepashe, Mosetse, Kutamogoree and Dukwi.
When the village was officially announced as a service centre, villagers were over the moon for they knew the package will bring along employment and developmental opportunities that will enhance the landscape of the village.
Moreover, for those who reside in the surrounding areas of Nata, this was a relief because they knew that some of the basic services they had to access in Tutume will be a stone throw away from them.
Nata Service Centre acts as a supplementary structure for the Tutume Sub-district and also brings services that are on demand closer, hence fulfilling the goal of an effective and efficient service delivery.
Some of the services accessed include civil and national registration, health, education, police, library, revenue related services and several others.
One of the traditional leaders of the village, Kgosi Letsogo Kgaswa said they were thankful for government efforts to continue implementing development that makes the village to be in the state it was in.
Kgosi Kgaswa noted that the village has rapidly grown as it has a population of more than 8 000 people and that its tribal administration was the overseer of tribal authorities in the villages of Sepako, Manxotae, Maposa, Dukwi, Kutamogoree, Lepashe and Mosetse.
He noted that although some of the services such as health, education and others have been long running, the village was officially set as a service centre in the early 2014 and other services such as civil and national registration were recently introduced.
“I am optimistic that the decision to set Nata a service centre will go a long way in bringing along changes in our village and others that fall in our peripheral.
This is one of the developments we have long wished for,” he said.
Kgosi Kgaswa noted that although they were still faced with the challenge of lack of offices, he was happy that the availed ones were up and offering services.
“We are still faced with lack of a youth office here, however, there is a community library, which is well equipped with modern Information Communication Technology equipment.
Most of the youth here use the library to channel their concerns to the youth office in Tutume and at times it takes long for them to receive feedback,” he said.
Kgosi Kgaswa further noted that the existence of the library in the village plays a significant role in efforts to discourage the youth from uncalled for practices. ENDS
