Thamaga Library recently graduated 40 students who were enrolled for the foundation level of the Professional Computing Course under the Sesigo programme.
Addressing the graduates, specially elected councillor for the area, Ms Bogadi Rampana applauded them and noted that computer literacy was now a daily requirement in many professional contexts. “So many things can be done with the Internet, including buying goods online and communicating with friends and families who are far,” she said.
She said technology has impacted positively on the growth of productivity.
She also applauded the Thamaga Library for utilising the Sesigo programme to change people’s lives. She encouraged the community to also enroll on the programme to change their lives for the better.
For his part, Mr Segomotso Nkarabang, a lecturer from Supabrain College, encouraged graduates to put into practice what they have learnt. He also advised them to buy computers to use at home.
Mr Nkarabang applauded the adults who enrolled on the programme. He said it was crucial for the graduates to progress to the highest qualification. He also encouraged the graduates to start businesses so that they could create employment for others.
One of the oldest graduates, Mr Patrick Mongwegi expressed gratitude towards the programme, saying he has learnt a lot and was confident that the skills and experience he gained would benefit him in the long-term.
He emphasised that it was important to learn to use computers as everything revolves around technology.
Another graduate, Ms Lesedi Kedisang encouraged the youth to enroll in the programme to change their lives.
She, however, decried the shortage of computers in the library as there was only one computer that was connected to the Internet. She also requested that the Internet service be upgraded as it was slow. Ends
