MP hails private sector role in education

Maun East Legislator Mr Kostantinos Markus has expressed his gratitude to Paper 4 Africa for donating stationery to schools in his constituency. The company handed over 25 000 books at Letsholathebe II Memorial School in Maun recently.
Mr Markus said Paper 4 Africa’s gesture will come a long in assisting the government to improve education quality.
He suggested that the books should be shared equally among the schools in his constituency to address shortage.
Further, Mr Markus noted that it was encouraging to see private entities like Paper 4 Africa investing in the education of the nation.
Chief education officer from North West Regional Education Office, Ms Didimalang Mmemo said that academic performance depended on availability of educational materials like books.
Ms Mmemo thanked Paper 4 Africa for the donation which she said would help improve quality of education thus assisting the Ministry of Education and Skills Development and Local Government and Rural Development who are the steward of lower education.
Corporate manager from Paper 4 Africa, Ms Georginah Tshimo said their company recognises the importance of education hence they took a step to donate stationery to students in constituencies across the country.
Ms Tshimo said Paper 4 Africa, a company that specialises in printing paper set aside one million books to donate especially to schools which have placed a request.
She said they have donated books to 38 schools in seven constituencies so far, adding that MP Markus requested books for his constituency.
Furthermore, Ms Tshimo encouraged students to make good use of the resources availed to excel in their academics to have a bright future. The school’s deputy head Ms Kebifetswe Lopang said their school faced shortage of furniture, ablution and classroom facilities with some classes taught under trees. Ends
