Parental support bears fruit

Ikageng Junior Secondary School (JSS) head, Ms Kelebogile Moketo, has attributed their 2014 Junior Certificate (JC) good results to the parental support they received from the parents.
When welcoming guests at the school’s prize giving ceremony in Metsimotlhabe, Ms Moketo said although they operated in a community dependent on agriculture, parents often found time to attend vital school meetings even during ploughing seasons.
“Our school tops all the junior schools in the Kweneng region and if it was not because parents we could be saying something else,” she said.
She stated that the cooperation they received from the academic and non-academic staff at the school creates a very conducive learning environment for students, and also hailed the students for good behavior as compared to previous groups.
“In the previous years I used to receive many student referrals from teachers because of bad behavior but this year I have not received any single case,” she said.
However she said, despite all the good support and results there were some challenges that they normally encounter such as lack of teaching materials and shortage of classrooms.
She said students commuting from villages on the outskirt of Metsimotlhabe such as Gamodubo and Gakuto had transport challenges, which made it difficult for them to concentrate in class.
For his part, Content Creation senior manager at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Mr Jimmy Howard, who was the guest of honour praised the prize winners saying they should always have a winning mentality as it is the only wheel that could take them to higher places.
He also advised teachers to help students in the best way they could as their future lies upon them.
He also criticised those students who vandalize school furniture and urged them to desist from such a behaviour. Ends
