Palapye region anticipates good results

12 Oct 2015

Palapye Sub-region is expecting good results from the ongoing Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE).

The chief education officer for the region, Mr Ryder Kedikilwe said in an interview that all the 37 primary schools under Palapye Sub-region beat the national target of 76 per cent ABC pass rate during mock examinations.

He said mock examinations were used to assess the performance of pupils and that the results were impressive, adding “something positive is forthcoming.”

Mr Kedikilwe said Palapye schools in particular should attain nothing less than 90 per cent ABC pass rate.

He said this was possible because Sebeso Primary School in Palapye attained 93.3 per cent in the 2014 PSLE examinations whilst Kediretswe Primary School beat all schools in Palapye in terms of AB pass rate scoring more than 40 per cent for AB pass rate.

Mr Kedikilwe urged parents to support children during examinations by encouraging them to study on time so that they sleep on time and also ensuring that pupils eat well.

He said the ongoing PSLE examinations, which would end on October 14, were going well, adding that his office has not received any negative reports regarding the examinations.

He said his office has addressed teachers and spupils and shared with them their expectations during the period.

In addition, he thanked dikgosi in Palapye for their contribution in bringing about good results in chools.

Regarding junior secondary schools, Mr Kedikilwe said most junior schools finished the syllabus as well as submitted projects.

Looking at term two results for form threes, he said of the 12 JSS s in the sub region, Sedimo JSS in Mogapi performed outstandingly attaining 89.5 per cent ABC pass rate.  Regarding Moeng and Lotsane senior schools, Mr Kedikilwe said the national target of five Cs or better credits is 40 per cent, but that Lotsane scored 13.5 per cent whilst Moeng scored 6.3 per cent.

He said this was partly for the reason that 87 per cent of students admitted at Lotsane attained D grade in their JCE whilst 82 per cent of students who attained the same grade were admitted at Moeng College.

However, he said despite the challenges, Lotsane managed to break into the top 10 schools that performed outstandingly after many years of low performance. Ends
