Chairman calls for collaboration 8232

North West District Council and Tawana Land Board have been urged to create a harmonious environment in order to represent the needs and aspirations of Ngamiland community diligently.

Council chairman, Mr Reaboka Mbulawa said during the closing ceremony of a three day seminar which brought together members of the two institutions to appreciate audit and finance procedures, regulations and share ideas on how best they could improve service delivery.

He said working in silos was a hindrance to service delivery as it is difficult to appreciate others’ challenges and come up with the best solution that would benefit the community.

He noted that the two institutions were influential entities hence the need to collaborate in order to achieve their goals.  He called on employees to change their mindset and engage each other in meetings and public education.

Mr Mbulawa noted that team work was crucial as both institutions’ mandates centred on providing quality service to the communities adding that by collaborating they would drive developments implementation and change the image of the district.

Mr Mbulawa said at times the institutions point fingers at each other and yet  they are working towards achieving the same objective of serving the communities.

“We cannot exist without each other as our mandate is to take services to the people and meet their expectation.We should be seen networking and engage each other in an open dialogue,” he added.

The chairman advised that employees and management should shy away from making decisions that hinder progress but rather talk to each other if one experiences challenges so that they could be assisted. 

He said collaboration could also assist in directing resources and knowledge to where they can accelerate progress in service delivery.

Mr Mbulawa thanked the organizers and the facilitators of the seminar noting that it has given participants a platform to use their individual skills and providing constructive feedback.

He assured the land board chairman a smooth working relationship noting that good governance was the only thing that could give positive results.

For his part the council secretary, Mr Mzondik Moswete said the workshop was meant to equip committee members with requisite skills to carry out their mandate more effectively and efficiently.

He said interactions with various stakeholders would also bridge the existing operational gaps and barriers which are hampering them from understanding the responsibilities of others.  ENDS
