Residents of Bosele Ward in Gaborone Bonnington North constituency have complained about lack of street lights and better roads in their ward.
They told their Member of Parliament, Mr Duma Boko during a kgotla meeting recently that their roads were in a bad state and needed repair.
One resident, Mr Isaac Moseki said the road had potholes, which were damaging their vehicles. Sharing the same sentiments Mr Shima Motsumi said the road was never in a good condition for the past several years and nothing had been done to make a difference.
Mr Motsumi said during rainy season the road was difficult to use adding that even the drainage system was a concern as water overflows into their yards. He said the road needed to be upgraded as there was congestion during rush hours. He said they also need street lights.
Another resident, Ms Bonno Kgosiemang raised a concern about the increased number of churches in the country, and suggested that registration of new churches be stopped.
For her part, Ms Boitumelo Babela called for the increase of minimum wages, as workers were paid peanuts by employers. Residents asked their MP Boko to assist them in such matter.
In response, Gaborone Bonnington North legislator admitted that indeed the roads in Bosele ward were in a bad state and the streetlights needed to be repair.
Mr Boko said a lot of things had not been going well, adding that teaching and the nursing fraternity work under dire situations, but due to the love they had towards duty, they had performed well.
He nevertheless said he would continue to advocate for better roads and general livelihood and urged residents to work hard to better their lives. ENDS
