Jehovas Potters House donates

27 Jan 2015

Jehova’s Potters House in Francistown has donated 60 food hampers worth P12 500 to elderly people and widows in the Francistown West constituency.

Speaking at the donation event on January 25, the founder of the church, Prophetess Keorapetse Muzila said the donation was in line with the annual church’s programme dubbed Bridge Repairer.

She said the programme was in line with the biblical scripture Isaiah 58:12, which could be interpreted to mean that the Christians should meet other’s needs. Prophetess Muzila said it was the responsibility of the church to assist the less privileged and to ensure that the word of God was not only preached but was also put into practice.

She noted that faith without deeds was dead. She said the donation was also in line with the National 2016 Vision pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation. Prophetess Muzila said churches should not only put more efforts in recruiting members but should also assist the government in caring for the needy.

She said it should not only be industries such as mines and corporate organisations, which assisted the communities, adding that churches should also play their role.

In an interview, Pastor Robert Muzila said the church raised a total of P37 500 through contributions from the congregation and the funds were divided amongst the Francistown constituencies.

The Francistown East constituency donations would be conducted during the Easter holidays while the Francistown South constituency donation would be done during the church anniversary in July, he said.

Pastor Muzila said in Tutume and Selebi Phikwe where the church has circuits, beneficiaries would get blankets, noting that the church should not only be interested in saving souls but should also nurture people physically.

The Francistown West MP, Mr Ignatius Moswaane said the government appreciates the role played by churches in nation building.

He called on people to refrain from the allegations that the so called ‘fire churches’ rob people of their money because people are never forced to contribute.

Mr Moswaane further said any organisation including churches need funds to run.

Mr Moswaane appealed to the congregation to continue giving to the church. ENDS
