KAYCON (PTY) LTD has shown commitment and interest in seeing education system in Botswana improving by donating a total of five computer and printer sets to primary schools in the Middlepits catchment area.

The schools which are Bogogobo, Kolonkwaneng,Middlepits, Khuis and Gakhibane primary schools were each given a computer and a printer.

Speaking at the official handover in Middlepits recently, KAYCON (PTY) LTD director, Mr Kgano Ketumile said the main objective of the donation is to raise the standard of education in Kgalagadi and also to introduce computer technology to students at an early age.

Mr Ketumile said it is crucial for pupils to be introduced to technology at a tender age.

“Students must have a grounding of technology at a young age. Computing has revolutionalised the world hence the need for pupils to be introduced to it at a tender age, nowadays everything revolves around technology hence pupils need to be introduced to it so that they can cope and adapt to various life situations,” he explained.

Also Mr Ketumile noted that students in less privileged districts such as Kgalagadi need to catch up with technology, noting that promoting computer knowledge amongst pupils at a tender age helps them to keep up with ever-changing technology and also helps to improve education and produce quality graduates hence giving them a platform to meet both national and international standards.

When receiving the donation, regional operations office’s principal education officer, Mr Tebogo Kgosimore applauded KAYCON (PTY) LTD, saying the company is a good example to the society as they are compassionate and care about the education and well-being of students.

He said their gesture is a great contribution to the promotion of education system in the country, noting that the computers and printers will be used to improve the quality of education in the recipient schools.

“These computers and printers are going to improve learning. They are going to make learning and teaching easier for both pupils and teachers.

They will also help in time management as they will contribute to work being done faster than before,” he said.

Mr Kgosimore encouraged KAYCON (PTY) LTD to continue with its good job of demonstrating compassion and promoting education in less privileged districts, saying that if this spirit is upheld it will significantly help the country to realise one of its vision 2016 pillars of an educated, informed nation.

“Donations such as these assist in building an educated and informed nation.

They contribute in making education more flexible and also help ensure that there is proper equipping of schools.

It is obviously clear that this gesture by KAYCON is one of the key elements needed for realising this vision,” he explained.

Mr Kgosimore advised recipients of the donation to use the donations wisely to improve the standard of learning and teaching in the region.

He further advised them to handle the donated computers and printers with care as they are a precious asset to them as they are able to improve livelihoods when handled with proper care.
