Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs says with effect from April 1, the application fee for passport issued to persons under the age of 16 was reduced from P260 to P100.
A statement released by the ministry’s communications officer on March 31 said the validity period of a passport issued to a person under the age of 16 was restricted to five years.
“Reasons being that such persons are still growing, hence his/her physical features are rapidly changing. Normal issuance for the e-passport is within five working days, while express service costs P390 (issued within 48 hours), extra service costs P520 (issued within 24 hours. Electronic Emergency Travel Documents will cost P12, and P1 000 is payable for replacement of a lost, stolen or damaged e-passport,” the statement explained.
The statement further stated that fees in respect of the express service, the extra service as well as for a lost, stolen or damaged passport would not change as they were once off payment linked to the applicant’s age or validity period of the passport.
It said normal application fees for those aged 16 and above remained at P260. Ends
