Master class unlocks beauty industry

Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) continues to support players in the beauty and cosmetics sector through various initiatives.
In an interview during the Nora Cosmetics Make-Up master class, BITC Brand Management director, Thuso Palai, said initiatives such as #PushaBW campaign, were available to promote locally made products and encourage consumer support for homegrown brands, as well as the Botswana Exporter Development Programme (BEDP).
He also said BITC had retailer engagement programmes aimed at improving market access for local beauty brands and ensuring their visibility on store shelves.
“Through these efforts, BITC remains committed to nurturing a sustainable and competitive beauty industry in Botswana, transforming passion into profitable, scalable businesses that contribute to national development,” said Palai.
He said although Botswana relied heavily on imported beauty products, the industry was vibrant and steadily expanding.
Clicks area manager, Lebopo Bulayani, emphasised the impact of the beauty industry on Botswana’s economy. He said the beauty sector created employment opportunities, fostered entrepreneurial spirit, and contributed to the growth of numerous businesses.
“At Clicks Botswana, we are continuously opening market and ensuring the local products have space on our shelves through our beauty halls. We can only remain hopeful that in the near future we will have brands such as Norah Cosmetics in Clicks,” said Bulayani.
She said they recognised that the true potential of the beauty industry was in collaboration and unity and implored the beauty and make-up sector industry to widen their collective impact, drive innovation, and address the diverse beauty needs.
“Through partnerships and knowledge-sharing, we can create an environment that nurtures creativity and encourages the development of unique, effective solutions,” said Bulayani. ENDS
