Craft Merchants, a local events company will on October 1 host Spring by Day Picnic at Bojanala Waterfront.
The event, which comes a day after the country’s 57th Independence Celebrations, promises patrons a relaxed experience on the lawn.
“We changed our venue for this event as we wanted to give our patrons a memorable experience of spring with afro pop and contemporary jazz music,” said Rapula Kegopilwe of Crafts Merchants during the media launch recently.
The launch also gave media a sample of musical performances by some of the artistes lined up for the event.
Tomeletso Sereetsi of Sereetsi and the Natives delivered an acoustic guitar rendition of their classic hits Thaa Kokome and Robete.
Sereetsi urged fans to patronise their gigs, saying their performances were not only for entertainment purposes but for their survival.
“This industry need to be supported, as it is an economy in motion, we are also contributing to the economy of this country like everyone else. It is not only just fun and flashy,” Sereetsi stated.
Ntshikiwane Raphesu and Sol Shibambu of South Africa also sampled what they will dish out at the picnic.
Ntshikiwane said her music was for the soul and she liked to connect with people through her music and craft.
Shibambu, who is a Vusi Mahlasela protégée expressed gratitude for events such as Spring by Day Picnic which he said gave live music artistes a platform to shine and grow.
“Live music is special. It is not just fun but a beautiful part of this game,” he said.
The event line up also includes Vusi Mahlasela, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, Louis Mhlanga, Lister Boleseng, Jordan Moozy as well as DJs Shaft people, Spinz and Harry Kota.
