All public primary schools in Jwaneng/Mabutsane constituency have successfully introduced pre-primary classes.
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele said a combined number of 26 pre-primary classes were introduced in 23 schools.
“In an endeavour to implement the government initiative on introduction of early childhood development, the ministry through councils in the constituency has introduced pre-primary school classes in all the 23 primary schools,” he said.
He said pre-school classes were housed in existing structures in the Mabutsane District.
He further said all prescribed learning materials were provided.
Mr Modukanele also said three out of the four public primary schools in Jwaneng had classrooms designated specifically for pre-school.
He said those were Dinonyane, Kgalagadi and Teemane primary schools. He said a pre-school class at Jwana Primary School was on the other hand housed in one of primary school classrooms.
The assistant minister also pointed that there was a shortage of 89 staff houses in the Mabutsane District.
“There are 211 staff houses as opposed to the targeted 300 staff accommodation.
Five staff houses are still under construction in Kutuku and Kanaka primary schools and are expected to be completed this current financial year,” he said.
He further said 67 out of 101 teachers were provided with accommodation in Jwaneng.
Jwaneng/Mabutsane MP, Mr Mephato Reatile had asked if there were pre-primary classes in all public primary schools in the constituency.
He further wanted to know the number of staff houses provided for primary school teachers and the number of staff members in need of accommodation in the constituency. Ends
