Ministry relaxes animal restrictions

The movement of live cloven-hoofed animals into and out of Zone 3c-Maitengwe, Zone 6a and Zone 7 for slaughter, and other purposes is allowed with a veterinary permit issued through BAITS, Ministry of Agriculture, has announced.
In a news release, it says movement of products derived from cloven-hoofed animals like trophies, hides, fresh milk and others, into and out of the three zones is also allowed with a veterinary movement permit.
However, the release states that movement of cloven-hoofed animals and their products out of Zone 6b remains prohibited.
It says export of live animals and derived products is permitted in accordance with import conditions which have been specified by importing countries.
The ministry further requests farmers to be vigilant and report any signs of illness in livestock. Ends
