25 Sep 2022

Plans are underway by the Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC) to construct housing units in Tsabong, Gaborone, Francistown, Maun and Kazungula during the current financial year.

Speaking at the BHC customer day in Palapye on Saturday, acting board chairperson, Mr Moemedi Gabana said the corporation remained committed to providing more affordable accommodation in areas of demand across the country.

“We believe that we will be answering the call for the provision of affordable accommodation to the general populace.

This corporation was established mainly to address accommodation and building needs of government, local authorities and most importantly Batswana,” he said.

Mr Gabana highlighted that in the last 50 years, the corporation had sold over 15 000 housing units to Batswana.

In Palapye, the acting board chairperson said, BHC recently unveiled another high-density property comprising 150, two and three-bedroomed flats dubbed Sphala Estate in Extension 7.

He noted that 50 of these houses were available for people to occupy, hence he encouraged those interested in acquiring such on rental to get in touch with Palapye office for assistance.

The objective of the BHC customer day was to create awareness about the corporation’s products and services, as well as to get feedback from customers and the general public.

It was also a special day for customers who purchased a BHC house during a period running from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, as they were automatically entered into a sales promotion competition, standing a chance to win P50 000.

The sales promotion competition, Mr Gabana said was part of the BHC golden jubilee celebration key activities, where the corporation was celebrating 50 years of existence last year.

Mr Gabana further stated that the corporation recently, re-launched the customer care charter as part of its efforts to drive a customer centric approach in service delivery.

The new charter, which was aligned to the quality management system, acting board chairperson said, was designed specifically to address areas such as turnaround times in the provision of service overall.

He further noted that the customer care charter aimed to ensure professionalism and high level customer service concepts in service delivery.

“By this charter, we promise to address queries and inquiries promptly and efficiently, while demonstrating our commitment to offering the best service to our customers,” he said.

The charter, Mr Gabana also said served as a social contract with customers and other stakeholders, to deliver superior service at all times. ENDS
