New proposed education structure to ensure efficiency
03 Aug 2022
The Ministry of Education and Skills Development is developing a new operational structure which will inform the review of an effective job description for staff.
“With the formation of the new Ministry of Education and Skills Development, current focus is on developing a new administrative structure for its operation and once approved, this will pave way for the holistic review of job effectiveness description for all staff to ensure operational efficiency,” said Minister Dr Douglas Letsholathebe.
He said even though the Court of Appeal had ruled that senior teachers with portfolio were not entitled to be graded above their counterparts with no responsibilities, the ministry’s review process would determine on how the issue could be resolved.
He noted that his ministry was working on the promises they made through the February 2021 Parliament sitting to determine the issue during the 2021/2022 financial year, alongside other matters.
Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had asked when the issue of senior teachers with portfolios would be resolved and whether the minister was alive to the promise he made to the effect that it would be resolved in April 2021.
He further wanted to know why it was taking long to resolve the matter. Ends
