Proximity to customers crucial

29 Jun 2022

Lesedi 2025, Botswana Savings Bank (BSB)three-year strategy, launched Friday, is set to guide the bank’s roadmap.

Botswana Savings Bank  board chairperson, Mr Kealeboga Molelowatladi said the strategy set the bank’s path to being a fully digital, financially inclusive, and leading Botswana-owned integrated financial service provider as it set clear objectives and action plans for the bank to adhere to.

He said part of the growth strategy was to increase footprint in Botswana by ensuring that the bank’s services were accessible to more Batswana.

Moreover, he said Lesedi 2025 sought to increase physical proximity to customers as part of its financial inclusion mandate with the view to providing robust financial services to all citizens.

This, he said would cultivate and promote a savings habit through a range of both savings and loan products targeting all income groups.

Further, Mr Molelowatladi said Botswana Savings Bank  would soon be implementing new systems to improve efficiency by phasing out the traditional passbooks as it introduces digital channels and automated processes for customer convenience.

“The new strategy comes just at the right time when the bank’s focus is on progress.

The three-year strategy is premised on key priority areas, which include customer service quality and excellence, sustainability, financial inclusion, organisational efficiency and innovation as well as strengthening of human capital,” he stated.

This, he said, called for a new and better way of engaging clients, reaching out to the market, and developing relevant and exciting financial services, products, and solutions.

A life-changing moment and a milestone worth celebrating, so he described the bank’s strategy unveiling.

“The history of the Botswana Savings Bank stretches exactly 30 years back and over this period, so much has been achieved to impact the lives of Batswana.

We pride ourselves as a Botswana bank,” he said, adding that the company’s pride remained in all its efforts represented in the diverse, affordable, and attractive banking products available, which catered around different customer segments.

In addition, he said over the years Botswana Savings Bank  experienced transformational growth; moving from a traditional bank to a 21st century financial institution, citing a total of five stand-alone branches, four core-branded branches, and two smart branches.

Currently the bank prides itself with having 16 Automated Teller Machines located in Gaborone, Mahalapye, Serowe, Letlhakeng, Kang, Gabane, Bokaa, Palapye, Maun, and Francistown, and through the strategy, intends to  continue to establish more across the country, with particular focus on areas that do not have Botswana Savings Bank representation.
