Financial literacy in children important - Kgosi Mogalakwe

Financial management, especially saving money, should be instilled in children while still young so that they grow into financially disciplined adults.
Kgosi Leretetse Mogalakwe from the Batawana Tribal Authority said this during the launch of Maun Savings Week, organised by Start Up4 Kids Foundation on Wednesday.
Kgosi Mogalakwe said that money was needed in all areas of life therefore, managing it well would help one attain their life goals.
He said it was concerning that Batswana were generally consumers and did save.
The Start Up4 Kids founder, Ms Katja Visser said the organisation acknowledged the importance of teaching children life skills at a young age.
Ms Visser said Maun Savings Week which was part of the Global Money Week commemorations, was meant to nurture children in savings and entrepreneurship.
She said the Start Up4 Kids Foundation partnered with Junior Rangers Botswana to also impart knowledge about conservation therefore, adapted the theme: Save Money, Save the Planet.
Ms Visser said that the organisation targeted children from primary school to teenagers.
A guide by profession, Mr Okwa Sarefo who is responsible for training Junior Rangers Botswana trainers reiterated the importance of imparting conservation knowledge on children.
Mr Sarefo said by so doing, children would grow up to be responsible natural resources conservationists. ENDS
