Heavy rains keep pupils away

24 Jan 2013

The recent heavy rains resulted in 35 pupils at Malaka primary school missing school this week.

The school head, Ms Ipelegeng Pasela said in an interview that the over flowing Lotsane River has made it impossible for children who went to Leboana lands over the weekend to cross back to Malaka.

She expressed concern at the high number of children adding that their absence would adversely affect their school performance.

Lecheng/Malaka Ward councillor, Mr Charles Mabjweng said there was an urgent need to construct a bridge along Leboana/Malaka Road to enable users to cross the river.

He expressed hope that the bridge would be constructed as he tabled a motion last year requesting the Department of Roads to consider constructing one along Leboana/Malaka Road. ENDS
