Residents urged to collect compensation
24 Jan 2013
Lobatse Tribal Secretary, Ms Motlamma Baloi has appealed to Lobatse residents to collect their unclaimed sums of money from the Lobatse customary courts.
In an interview, Ms Baloi said the money includes fines, compensations and other monetary charges associated with the adjudication of customary disputes.
She said the unclaimed money amounted to P65 923. She also explained that usually the courts notify the claimants after their money had been paid to courts by posting names on notice boards.
Ms Baloi said the courts encountered problems in locating some claimants because they have either changed their addresses or relocated.
She explained that the money is kept for a period of two years awaiting collection before they could hand it over to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. ENDS
