22 Jan 2013
President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama has given food hampers to the disaster management team.
Many parts of the country, notably the northern and eastern areas, have been experiencing heavy rains which damaged houses and brought a lot of inconveniences.
Donating the food hampers on Tuesday, President Khama said the food stuff donated through the President’s Charitable Fund should be given to Batswana who were negatively affected by heavy rains and floods. He implored other Batswana to extend their helping hand to the flood victims so as to contribute to the Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation.
“I appeal to all other Batswana that they too step forward during this flooding season and anytime in the future to always be prepared to help fellow citizens in their time of trouble,” he said.
When receiving the hampers on behalf of the flood victims and disaster management team, Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi thanked the President for his generous expression of goodwill.
Mr Masisi said he hoped that the hampers would be expeditiously distributed to appropriate persons in areas, which were affected by the floods. ENDS
