04 Aug 2013
The Vice President, Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe has applauded Tamasane Village Development Committee (VDC) for coming up with initiatives aimed at generating income for development of their village.
Dr Kedikilwe, who was the chief walker at a 16km sponsored walk from Tamasane to Matolwane/Lesenepole junction on Saturday, said the committee displayed maturity and visionary leadership. The Vice President advised the youth to learn from the committee and work hard to make a living and he also reminded them that they had a role to play in the country’s future.
He said their contributions should not only be in monetary form but concrete ideas and plans that could add value to the country’s economy. Giving the vote of thanks, Tamasane councillor, Mr Ketogetswe Sekwati raised concern about misappropriation of funds by VDCs.
Mr Sekwati said some VDCs raised funds only for the money to disappear into thin air. However, he appealed to Tamasane VDC not to spend the money on planned projects. The sponsored walk raised a total of P30 500 but some sponsors are yet to donate. The objective of the walk was to raise funds for the renovation of VDC houses in the village. ENDS
