Revelation Blessed Peace Church of Botswana (RBPC) has been called upon to empower its youth by allowing them an opportunity to partake in decision making and become part of the main church bodies.

Speaking at annual youth general conference of the church on July 29, deputy chairperson of North West District council (NWDC) cllr Duncan Enga said for the church to continue its legacy, it needs well groomed young people.

“I understand this is an annual event which aims to promote fellowship and exchange of ideas and information amongst members and especially youth in particular,” said cllr Enga.

The conference was held under the theme ‘Youth empowerment and entrepreneurship ideas guided by the Holy Spirit.’

Cllr Enga said it is quite clear that the church leadership wants to empower young people within the church. He indicated that it is predicted that by the year 2019 diamond revenues will start to go down hence the need to diversify the economy and for these to be attainable the youth should take charge. “Government has encouraged youth to take advantage of readily and youth designed programmes available,” he said.

Cllr Enga indicated that as of the year 2012/2013, only 33 per cent of youth funded projects were operational at a cost of P1 460 066.51 in Ngamiland.

“The time is now, we need to stand up and grab opportunities and also turn challenges into more prospects,” he said.

For his part, the leader of RBPC Archbishop Tshwaranang Kepaletswe encouraged his church followers to continue giving to the less fortunate.

“Last year at our annual conference in Sefhophe we gave 30 destitute elders food hampers,” he said.He applauded youth for being active in church matters and encouraged them to continue being involved in church related issues. ENDS
