Puso praises Catholic women

29 Jul 2013

Kgosi Puso of Batlokwa has commended Roman Catholic Church women for their continued support to the less privileged members of society.

Speaking at the Saint Mary’s solidarity retreat at St Joseph’s College  on July 27, Kgosi Puso said the gesture was not only envisaged in the Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate, just and carrying nation, but was also an extension of love.

Kgosi Puso said the gesture showed the desire to serve others and bring a difference to their lives. He said government was committed to also supporting the less privileged members of society.

However, Kgosi Puso decried the lack of respect among the youth, saying parents should play a parental role in moulding their children. Kgosi said many young people were ill-mannered because of the way they had been brought up, adding that a retreat would help people to introspect.

He also thanked the Roman Catholic women for organising the event, describing them as true servants of society. In his welcome remarks, Archbishop Valentine Seane spoke against the increasing cases of divorce in Botswana, adding that lot of people no longer respected the institution of marriage. Archbishop Seane appealed to all stakeholders to help remedy the situation.

The church donated various items that included toiletry to the Ramotswa Centre for the Deaf. Women from the Lesotho Roman Catholic Church also attended the retreat. ENDS
