Debswana donates vehicle

Debswana will continue to serve the community of Boteti and the country as a whole by ensuring that they get a share from the revenue generated through diamond mining.
Debswana corporate social investment board member, Dr Paul Tladi said this when handing over a vehicle worth P206 140 to Orapa tribal administration office on June 19.
“We are doing this in line with Vision 2016 pillars and demonstrate the will to assist whenever a need arises. Our presence has to be felt in a positive way by the community,” he said. Dr Tladi said Debswana believed in a strong partnership with the community and it is privileged to give back to the residents of Boteti.
Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the tribal administration staff, principal assistant district officer, Mr Obakeng Sethamo appreciated the contribution made by Debswana in assisting government provide services to the community.
Mr Sethamo appreciated the partnership between the mine and Orapa tribal administration saying it produced positive results. “We are here to witness fruits of a strong partnership between two parties”, he said.
He said government was mandated to service the community even in the remotest areas but shortage of transport sometimes became an impediment towards quality and timely service delivery.
As such, Mr Sethamo appreciated the support from Debswana urging them to extent a helping hand to other sectors of the community which were in need. He said government suspended some of the key projects due to shortage of funds, appealing to the private sector to partner with government.
For his part, Kgosi Christina Moloi said Debswana was always supportive to her office. She said government could not address challenges alone and as such the private sector must be ready to assist.
Ms Moloi said in the past, Debswana donated among others a computer, covered the floor of the kgotla shelter and office pavement with tiles. Ms Moloi added that such resources would be used efficiently and with care. ENDS
