Festive season celebrations at Moremaoto were cut short as one of the residents was reported missing on December 30.

When BOPA crew visited the village on New Year Day, two search teams were dispatched comprising of members of the community led by police officers to comb the thick bushes of Moreomaoto.
In an interview, Kgosi Michael Masheto of Moreomaoto said he received the sad news on Saturday (Dec 30) at around 1500 hours while at a church service. Kgosi Masheto said the man was reported to have moved to her aunt’s place on Saturday after having an argument with his uncle whom he was staying with.
He said the man’s family realized he was missing Sunday morning. He was believed to have left his aunt’s place at night before the issue with the uncle could be resolved. Kgosi Masheto said after receiving the report, members of the community joined the police to search for the missing man adding that weather conditions coupled with rainfall and scotching heat disturbed the search.
Rakops police station commander, Superintendent Makgophe Oageng also confirmed the incident. Superintendent Oageng said the search had been unsuccessful.
Supt Oageng said when the man left his aunt’s place at night, he was barefooted, wearing a white pair of trousers and a stripper T-shirt. He has appealed to the community to continue assisting in the search. ENDS
