19 Apr 2016

The anti-alcohol campaign dubbed Lemphorwana la Bojalwa Ga le Fofe  is said to be reaching thousands of people in Francistown.

The campaign’s project arts officer from Shadows Arts Production, Mr Oarabile Seboko revealed this in an interview with recently.

He was speaking on the sidelines of one of their campaigns in Monarch.

He stated that their anti-alcohol campaign had proven to be successful as it attracted many around Francistown and surrounding areas.

Alcohol abuse, Mr Seboko noted, was rampant among the youth and causing a lot of trouble for the society as it brought about lawlessness.

“Alcohol has been found to be a major cause of serious car accidents, silent killer diseases such as cancer, high blood pressure and sugar diabetes and all kinds of abuse in many families,” he said.

For these reasons, Shadows Arts Production found it fit to get out and spread the good message to the public through drama, facilitation and music.

Mr Seboko stated that their anti-alcohol campaign had been running successfully for seven months now and that their partner and sponsors, the Ministry of Health and the Alcohol Levy Implementation Committee appreciated the outreach programmes.

“We were sponsored to the tune of P490 940 for a period of 12 months. We always submit our quarterly reports to the Ministry of Health on time, including our monitoring and evaluation reports.” he added.

Monarch Customary Court deputy president, Kgosi Chama Montshiwa, thanked the group for passing through their area to spread the message about the negative results brought about by alcohol and substance abuse.

She commended government for finding it fit to sponsor the 15 members’ production.

Furthermore, Kgosi Montshiwa said the group had also donated three fruit tree plants, which were planted at the kgotla. ENDS
