Ngwaketse Junior Secondary School students have been urged to focus on their education despite the challenges that they are going through.
Speaking during a career fair in Kanye recently, the managing director of Phama Save Pharmacies, Mr Lesedi Keetile said he passed his Botswana General Certificate for Secondary Education (BGCSE) with flying colours although he was from a disadvantaged background.
He urged students to approach examinations with a positive mind and avoid apportioning too much time on leisure than academics.
Mr Keetile also challenged students to read newspapers and novels as much as possible as they help improve their vocabulary and semantics as well as exercising their brains to think.
For his part, the school head, Mr William Mbinda spoke about the transformation of the school, noting that it started as a study group and later assimilated by the government.
He said although the school obtains acceptable results there was still room for improvement as the sky was the limit.
He said their ambition was to to be in the top 20 schools in the country.
The school’s head of department, Mr Rapelang Molatole said the fair was meant to expose students to available opportunities.
He said career fairs help students to understand the value of education, and that it pushes them to strife for good results that would avail better opportunities in life. ENDS
