Nswazwi kgosi decries lack of transport

Kgosi Batshani Monyatsi of Nswazwi has complained that authorities particularly at tribal administration are not helpful.
He said this at a kgotla meeting addressed by their Member of Parliament and Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Mr Edwin Batshu on Monday.
Kgosi Monyatsi said it had been years that their vehicle was involved in an accident and despite the authorities being aware of the situation, no action had been taken to assist them.
He said this being the only vehicle, service delivery at the kgotla and other government departments was affected.
He pointed out that despite cases being tried at the kgotla and some payments being made, it had been a challenge to remit the money in Tutume.
Kgosi Monyatsi requested the MP to facilitate for the one vehicle per village policy to be implemented in their village so that they could make use of the one vehicle and push other services, which can add to the development of their village.
Residents alleged that though their village was one of those to benefit from the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP), a company awarded the tender to do maintenance at the school had instead brought along its employees rather residents.
In response, Mr Batshu said ESP was meant to benefit Batswana as a whole and priority should be given to the inhabitants of the area.
He, therefore, promised to liaise with relevant officers to have the situation addressed and at the same time, he said he would take up the kgotla vehicle issue and staff replacement with heads of departments so that there could be action.
Furthermore, he informed the residents that the road connecting them to North East through Kalakamati was not on the National Development Plan 10 (NDP 10) but would be considered in the NDP 11 as they put it among prioritized projects. ENDS
