Road show bears fruit

About 850 people registered their various plots in Lobatse recently.
Kgalagadi District land board secretary, Ms Neo Mothobi, who is also the national organising committee member for land registration, said she the turn up was impressive.
She said they expected to record more than the target of 1 000 clients per location.
With the help of Rolong and Malete land boards, she said, they were able to serve clients promptly and efficiently.
“I am more than happy to have registered my plot at no cost, it saved me time to travel to Mmadinare to have it registered and I would encourage Batswana to take full advantage of such an initiative, it has been made for them,” said Ms Osiile Ramosweu a Lobatse resident from Mmadinare.
Another client, Ms Boitshoko Oduetse, who resides in Molapowabojang, registered two plots being a residential and ploughing field both of them in Serowe.
“The service was excellent, it took me less than 20 minutes to have both plots registered, and having done so now I understand why I had to do it. I know my plot will be surveyed at no cost and this also safe guards my plot from being stolen,” said Ms Oduetse.
The Ministry of Lands and Housing road show would enable all plots to be surveyed.
“It is not only plots that have been registered that will be surveyed but all land will be. This will also provide a security of tenure for clients and reduce cases of stealing of plots, ease acquiring a title deed to the land registered by clients” said Ms Mothobi.
Encroachment of plots and claiming of plots by more than one client are some of the issues that the programme would help address, added Ms Mothobi. Ends
