Council Official urges learners to behave well

The Central District Council secretary has implored students at Swaneng Primary School to display good and acceptable behaviour at all times.
Mr Gaolatlhe Dipholo noted this at pre-school and standard seven graduation ceremony which was organised by the school recently.
He said ill-mannered behaviour is socially unacceptable as it condemns one to a social misfit.
Mr Dipholo said learning is change in behaviour and it must be reflected in the manner in which one conduct her or himself when inside or outside the school.
The event was celebrated under the theme , Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere, aimed at encouraging that was mandated in encouraging learners to take their education seriously.
“The way you carry yourself must give credit to us parents and to your school and it reflects its morality and that of the society at large,” he said.
He thereby highlighted that in order for them to make their parents and teachers proud they should be well behaved.
Mr Dipholo advised students to stay away from alcohol and drug abuse and other social ills as it can hinder their success.
Students were also encouraged to take their education seriously in order for them to turn their dreams into reality.
He nonetheless urged the students to take cognizance of the fact that a peaceful and prosperous nation is a product of a learned, dedicated, hardworking, peace-loving, compassionate and morally upright citizen.
“These are the attributes that you should exhibit in your being, no matter where you are,” he said.
Mr Dipholo told the standard seven and pre-school graduates that they will be pursuing another level in order to develop themselves for a better living and subsequently for building the nation of Botswana.
He urged them to be responsible and take every piece of their school work seriously because learning is a treasure that follows it owner every where and it unlocks every door in the future.
Furthermore Mr Dipholo highlighted to parents that they have the huge responsibility of bringing up, nurturing and directing their children they way they should go, therefore he urged them to work hand in hand with teachers and ensure the development of a full and well rounded child who would be a pride of everyone.
He urged parents to be conscious because nowadays the world is fast changing therefore they should always be aware of what it brings to their children and they have to make sure that the children are not exposed to social ills which if not carefully monitored they can end up copying and destroy their future.
“It is within our jurisdiction and mandate that we ensure that they grow within the confines of our culture, norms and values”, he adds.
Mr Dipholo appreciated both teachers and parents of the role they are each playing in ensuring high academic standards in the institution.
Furthermore Mr Dipholo has applauded the initiative of starting preschool in primary school saying it was a gap which was long overdue and needed to be filled.
Mr Dipholo said the government realized that there was a gap which needed to be filled, thus he congratulated Swaneng Primary School for having started the programme earlier.
For his part, the school Principal Mr Martin Chiswili encouraged the students to continue working hard in order for them to excel and he also applauded parents for the support they afford their children adding that it is through their commitment and enthusiasm that they always strive for excellence.
