Francistown City mayor Ms Silvia Muzila has commended Nyangabwe Referral Hospital (NRH) management and the staff for their “quality health services” they provide to the public .
Speaking at a public event where the hospital showcased their services, recently in Francistown Ms Muzila encouraged staff to continue being efficient in providing health services that will ensure that patients are assisted in accordance with health values in a timely manner.
She also encouraged them to keep holding community engagement activities noting that event demonstration is a key customer focused leadership because it makes difference in community members’ lives.
Ms Muzila said it is important for the public to know and understand health services provided by the hospital and the Ministry of Health so as to utilise and benefit from various progammes.
Further, she stated that on this regard the hospital management found it vital to organise this event bringing health services to the community hence the theme Taking the Hospital to the People.
Ms Muzila noted that the event will also promote interaction of health workers and the community to share feedback and address on the challenges.
She said the nation’s health is of high priority to the government hence the need for shared efforts between the health workers and the community to promote healthy lifestyle that goes without compromise.
Ms Muzila therefore applauded the hospital management for organising an event which is in line with the vision 2016 pillar of being a healthy nation. She urged community members to live out the advice and information they will receive from health workers so as to ensure good health.
Furthermore, she said the Ministry of Health promotes preventatives care than curative care, therefore mentioned that it is very important for an event like that one to be appreciated in educating and informing the public on health services.
‘’I believe that when we leave here, we are going to live healthy lives that will reduce health hazards that bear non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension,’’ she noted.
For his part deputy hospital superintendent Dr Lowell Chansa said NRH has started showing in some ways in the state of infrastructure which need maintenance from time to time.
He said over the years there has been an increase in the number of services and their complexity which are being offered resulted in shortage of space.
In addition Dr Chansa said that has necessitated relocating some of the services to Jubilee Hospital after renovating the old buildings. He said NRH is a catchment area that extends from Cape of Capricorn to boarders with Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia as they may be aware that it is a referral hospital but also acts as district hospital.
