15 Nov 2015
Monageng Valuers company owner, Mr Shima Monageng, has urged schools management to engage stakeholders to meet school needs.
Mr Monageng said this when officiating at Phuthadikobo Primary school prize giving ceremony in Molepolole.
He said he was aware of the school needs as he was at one point chairperson of Molepolole- Lentsweletau Sub-council, adding that during his tenure, management in some schools was reluctant to work closely with the council so that they could be helped accordingly.
Therefore the need still persisted in some schools around the district. He therefore urged school management to engage councils and business people to help build classrooms, among other things.
Mr Monageng also encouraged the school management to look for companies that could adopt their school.
Mr Monageng encouraged parents to show interest in their children’s education. He said since Phuthadikobo primary was average in its performance, a lot still needed to be done so that the school could become one of the best performing schools in the district.
He further said students should be assisted in choosing careers, saying they should be persuaded to choose innovation and enterprising courses as there was still shortage of recruits in those careers.
Mr Monageng also commended the school for their kind gesture in building a needy family a toilet.
For her part, the deputy chairperson of Phuthadikobo Parents Teachers Association, Ms Obotseng Nkane advised parents to be there for their children, saying poverty might hinder students performance.
Phuthadikobo school Hhead Mr Kebonyethebe Rasedie noted that the prize giving ceremony was organised in order to bring stakeholders together. He said the other reason was to celebrate students’ performance.
Mr Rasedie said the school was an average performing one as last year, they attained a 68 per cent pass rate in the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) results, and 63 per cent in 2013.
However, he said they were working hard to attain a higher pass rate.
Besides education, Mr Rasedie said they wanted to build a compassionate, just and caring nation, saying through the pillar of Vision 2016 they identified a needy family built them a toilet. Ends
