Angola economic status noteworthy

The Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mr Eric Molale has commended the Angolan government and its citizens for the economic and peaceful gains it has achieved in the last 40 years of its independence.
Speaking during a dinner to commemorate 40 years of independence of Angola at Gaborone International Convention Centre, Mr Molale said it is worthy to appreciate the monumental strides Angola continues to make, while remaining a living proof as a country that stands today united redefined and resolute.
In addition he said the country is recommitted and above all, having successfully re-established its rightful position at the highest table of the community of nations. He said it was a good development that Angolan people were able to consolidate the gains of independence and rebuild their country through the establishment of strong institutions of governance.
In addition it was able to establish other administrative structure as well as the promotion of the rule of law epitomised by the 2010 adoption of an all-inclusive Constitution. Mr Molale said through visionary leadership Angola continues to make significant progress in pursuit of the goal of fostering a greater sense of national cohesion, peace and socio-economic progress.
Minister Molale further thanked Angola for contributing towards the maintenance of international peace and security as evidenced by its current membership of the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member for the period 2015-2016.
Above all he paid tribute to the Angolan president Mr Jose Eduardo Dos Santos in his role As chairperson of the International Conference for the Great lakes Region through which Angola is seeking lasting solution to the conflict in that fragile part of the continent, particularly the DRC.
On other issues he said since the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 1975, the two countries of Botswana and Angola have together maintained an enduring friendship and strategic partnership in development.
He further affirmed the government’s commitment to further enhancing the fraternal and cordial bonds of friendship that are the hallmark of their relations.
For his part, the Angolan Ambassador to Botswana Mr Agostinho Neto said the country celebrates the 40th anniversary of its independence in a climate of peace, security and national harmony. He noted that there were moments in which the ideals of freedom and independence of Africa were seriously threatened.
Furthermore he said in a spirit of national unity and harmony Angolans can now enjoy the natural beauty that their vast territory offers them. Ends
